Sponsored 17-mile Snorkel Swim
AN UNUSUAL journey along a river to push home a serious message.
Ed Mullenger set off on a 17-mile snorkel trip from Ely to Cambridge to highlight the abuse suffered by elderly people worldwide.
Ed made the journey to raise money for Action on Elder Abuse the UK charity, and to mark Friday's World Elder Abuse Awareness Day.(June 15th 2007)
Offical figures released on Thursday 14th June, show that 342,000 elderly people suffer abuse in the UK with 42,000 suffering sexual abuse. 20% of theft from the elderly is by a paid carer.
