Dignity in Care

Thousands mistreated daily.

Every day thousands of elderly people are mistreated by hospital staff, care staff, be it in care homes or their own home. We have a great deal of work to bring this mistreatment to a halt, giving elderly people the same level of protection as children receive.

I would like to highlight our campaign introduced by Health Minister Ivan Lewis, Dignity in Care. This campaign is looking for more people to join in actively making a stand against the lack of dignity elderly people receive from the care workers they rely on every day.

Older people are the main users of many health and care services. Yet there are often examples of a lack of respect for the dignity of older people in every area of the care service.

We believe all older people should be confident that their dignity will be respected whenever they are receiving treatment and care, including at the end of life. This often relates to some of the most basic - but essential - aspects of care.

Please join us in this campaign by signing up as a Dignity Champion" at www.dignityincare.org.uk or by contacting me at Elder Protection (Cambridgeshire) on 07766126220. It is only in our numbers can we make a difference.
